The White House

Situated on Pennsylvania Avenue just 9 blocks away from our DC hotel, this historic residence is the impressive home of the United States President. White House visits must be arranged at least 21 days in advance through your Member of Congress. Once you have obtained tickets, you can tour the incredible structure, see beautiful furnishings and artwork, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the President himself.

Holiday Celebrations

Numerous holidays are celebrated at the White House. Easter is commemorated with a popular Egg Roll on the lawn, and Christmas features a beautiful tree in the Blue Room plus special décor and a gingerbread house. You'll also find Hanukkah festivities and the annual pardoning of the Thanksgiving turkey.

Wondering how to visit the White House? You must submit your tour request through your Member of Congress. These tours are self-guided and take place Tuesday through Saturday. Tours are free and scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. They must be arranged at least 21 days in advance.

    You’ll see historic decorative arts such as furniture and textiles, along with paintings, sculpture, china and a famous 1800 painting of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart.

    These free tours of the White house gardens and kitchen are available to local elementary, middle school and high school students on most Tuesday and Thursdays. You must apply for your group’s tour online.
