"Rainbow Washington" Tour
Learn about LGBT history and civil rights. Join Ella, a certified tour guide and gay rights activist, on a special tour focusing on LGBT history and civil rights. This tour will engage and explore how Washington, DC has been a pivotal location for the struggle for equal rights and learn how people, places and events shaped an accepting environment leading to the Marriage Equality landmark Supreme Court decision. Discover how the nation's hearts and minds have changed through the decades-long struggle for equality in our nation's capital. This two-hour walking tour will begin at Lafayette Square Park, head north on 17th Street through downtown DC into the vibrant historically gay neighborhood ending at Dupont Circle - DC's most beloved park. It is recommended that you bring a cooling beverage, a camera and your curiosity. The goal of this tour is to learn how the gay community evolved from subversive culture to political activists to inclusive family, friends and neighbors. Adventures for Creative Tourists is delighted to launch this Rainbow Washington tour with Ella Schiralli, an activist and longtime DC resident with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the struggle for equal rights. This tour, as with all tours presented by Adventures for Creative Tourists, will engage you and stimulate your curiosity. We dive into the topics with both knowledge and entertainment.
